It was pouring when we first drove into Washington (of course), but the following day’s forecast allowed us to explore downtown Seattle. Finding parking was quite the task, as is the case in any big city. We circled the same few streets until settling into a parking lot. Before paying, however, we were stopped by a man holding a parking spot across the street. He told us that parking was free on Sundays and beckoned us to park where he stood. Taking his word for it, we did. With a few light hand motions, he guided us through a successful parallel parking. He was kind, so I tipped him. Another man tried to help us park later on in the day, but we had already seen the parking spot before his attempted assistance. Nice try, sir.
